Today was a class on America and the Middle East given by Professor Robert Lieber.
I’m not gonna lie, I was expecting the worst. We were told that he was pro-israel, as though we had to be warned ahead of time for some disastrous confrontation.
But it wasn’t like that at all. In fact, it was the most pleasant class we’ve had yet. The professor was extremely well-spoken and intelligent, he covered a vast range of political topics from Bosnia to the UN to Libya.
However, Palestine wasn’t mentioned at all. I wonder that, if it was, would we have walked away with a different impression? Something tells me we wouldn’t. I do regret not opening the subject with him.
Tomorrow will mark two weeks since we arrived in the United States, though it feels like longer.
